Watching all the crazy weather and politics from Europe has been rather surreal lately. It almost doesn’t seem like reality at all, but is indeed very very real and has had an impact on some dear friends of ours in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean. Growing up in Louisiana I’ve had my fair share of hurricanes and tornadoes, but nothing of this magnitude. One of my dearest friends just completed renovations of her house only to see it destroyed by Harvey. Most of my cousins live in Houston and thank God have been safe. Changes in weather patterns have been happening all over the world lately. In Belgium there has been more rain than sunshine this summer. Although, we don’t mind the rain due to our constant sunshine in LA, the locals have been complaining about not really having their normal summer weather. So carrying an umbrella almost daily has been a must for us!

All these changes and challenges is what makes life interesting, how boring would it be if everything would always stay the same? Like the weather, life has a way of changing and challenging you to go further with possibilities to find your destiny.  Part of the reason that Ronn took the challenge of doing an original play that was written with him in mind was to challenge himself as an actor and performer. It was also a change for us to come and stay in another country for an extended period of time. And these past couple of months have indeed been an awesome experience of a lifetime. However, looking afar at our beloved home, our country being ravished by devastating weather and turmoil has not been pleasant. It breaks my heart being from the deep south of Louisiana to see its neighbors Texas and now Florida being pounded by massive destruction from these hurricanes. Looking at it from afar and experiencing Belgium weather is really quite lovely indeed for us, I mean how the hell can we possibly complain about a little rainshower when we can enjoy riding our bikes throughout this gorgeous environment we have are now becoming accustom to here in Antwerp.

Ronn and the cast of Brasschaate Huisvrouwen have been getting standing ovations for their performances with every performance becoming better than the last. I think it’s safe to say this new challenge for Ronn has been quite a unique hit! Now we are feeling out more wonderful unique opportunities by following our God given talents and desires. You all know how much I love cooking, especially Cajun food, so now it’s been presented a possibility to be the celebrity chef of the evening at a gorgeous restaurant in Antwerp and introduce Gumbo to Belgium with Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning, how can I say no to that? And on top of this we will have a real DevRonn kickass party before we leave to go back home in late October that you guys can join in on, so this is really something we are looking forward to now! There will now be more details about this in Primo Magazine coming soon!

These new changes and challenges that we have been experiencing in Belgium has shown us that we can truly be happy anywhere as long as you are following your heart. There is even a hit song by the fabulous Martine, who has been stealing the show with every performance in Brasschaate Huisvrouwen, as Renske and coincidentally it is called, “Follow Your Heart.” I find myself loving the quiet mornings I get to spend with hubby who still makes my coffee and breakfast every morning while I listen to Prince make his happy little sounds playing with his various toys while I write or plan out surprises for you guys! It makes us happy to hop on our bikes and ride around discovering new and interesting people from Belgium and it is a welcome change in our lives that is bringing us new challenges along the way. It feels so exciting to embrace change for me, I absolutely love changes and challenges! This is how you grown as a human being and much of life’s challenges is what inspires me to write. I will start working on the follow up book to “True Age, Timeless Beauty,” which was about getting life in balance and manifesting your destiny. “True Wisdom, Timeless Spirit” will be about keeping life in balance and maintaining your destiny. I use examples from my own life and the things I’ve learned to share and hopefully inspire you to have the life you deserve! This is the challenge I so desire to do for our world, to live my life as an example with the goal to only share and inspire others through kindness and love. We must stop the hatred and the negativity toward mankind and start being that pebble in a pond that spreads out only love, gratitude and positive desire instead of hate, revenge and negativity.

Our world is in enough turmoil from living in fear, feeling insecure and not having enough or being enough. Mother nature is coughing up all the debris that has littered her by the greed and selfish desire for mankind to control instead of share and love his fellow man. Ronn and I have been seeing history repeat itself watching the series, “Rome” and “The Tudors” recently. You know how much we love “Game of Thrones” which is fiction, but these series were based on history and shows that man hasn’t evolved much over the past few centuries. When will we realize that we are all one and we must not destroy our earth who feeds us? When will be stop polluting our waters which provide life itself, as we are made up of 70% water? When will be realize that hurting others only hurt ourselves? The quest for power, control with no gratitude is a lonely way to live. It is only through love, giving and gratitude that you can truly see and feel happiness and these are the tools that makes you get through any change or challenge that life may throw at you!

Just as the seasons are changing and that feeling of fall is feathering the air with crispness, we are starting some changes of our own at DevRonn. It’s always exciting when change comes because it brings along new adventures! There are several changes and ventures both Ronn and I are embarking on and one of them is with Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning! We are very happy to announce that it will be available exclusively in two amazing Malibu restaurants, “Zooma Sushi” and “Coral Beach Cantina.” Both of these adjoining staples in Malibu are known for their amazing cuisine and we have personally tried our spice on everything for years now and know it speaks volumes when it comes to flavor and it’s great on everything! I think they even want to name a couple of dishes after me at both restaurants. So don’t be surprised to see “Devin’s Kickass Crab Sushi handrolls” at Zooma Sushi or “Devin’s Kickass Shrimp Tacos” at Coral Beach Cantina next time you visit! These Malibu hotspots will be the first place you can taste Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning firsthand!

In other ventures, Ronn has partnered with modify watches and will be launching his own line of Ronn Moss watches just in time for Christmas! These will make great gifts for anyone who is Ronn Moss fan and there will be several cool styles to choose from! He is also working on Ronn Moss T-shirts and scarves that he will be helping to design himself! I know how much you all have been wanting him to do a scarf line of his own and I think you will love the new designs!

We are excited to start shooting season three of “The Bay” which is now showing season one on Amazon Prime. Season two will debut in November along with more insight into the mysterious John Blackwell, played so wonderfully by hubby! I’m so sure you will not be disappointed and look forward in giving you more behind the scenes on the upcoming shoot in November! In the meantime, DevRonn Fanclub members are encouraged to hurry and renew their memberships because upcoming exciting news will be revealed in the next few days exclusively for them!

So I’m finally feeling the sense of cool change in the weather and thought we needed to do some cool changes to our websites. It has been a while since Ronn’s site has had a makeover and was a way overdue. I felt like most of our websites needed a bit of something and wanted to make sure you are all with us in spirit if not in person on the OZ tour!

 Ronn-Moss_Devin-DeVasquez_0525.jpg

I can’t believe we leave just before Halloween so we will miss all the awesome parties around here, but we will be going to the prestigious Melbourne Cup! Apparently, there is a horse named after Ronn and it’s quite like our Kentucky Derby, so I must now decide on a hat to wear. There is a cool change coming to “The Bay” and we know how much you all are in love with the one and only John Blackwell. As producers on the already hit web series, I can tell you that these will be amazing chapters and there will also be a new music video of Ronn’s single, “Addiction” and all will be out before Christmas!

Ronn has a cool change coming with his very own “Ronn’s Kickass BBQ Sauce!” And when we say “Kickass” we mean it! This sauce is great with our “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” and we are already addicted to it in our household. It’s also made in Louisiana and has a sweet and spicy flavor that is also Gluten-Free! I hope you guys are enjoying the newest interview on Woman to Woman featuring Shauna O’Brien and her gorgeous organic garden. She and Kelly Emberg have inspired me so much in that area, so we are looking forward to more from our own organic garden. Since our health is indeed the most important thing, I do hope you all stay safe from the flu and that scary Ebola, but please do not live in fear over it!

Ronn and I drink warm lemon water each day as a cleanse and natural boost to our immune system. We highly recommend it, especially now. I want to be strong and healthy to get through the OZ tour and I’m hoping to see many of you down under. So get your tickets now! Player is performing at the “Last Chance For Animals” fundraiser Oct 25 and Shelter Hope Pet Shop just released its 2015 calendar featuring me. Both these animal rescue charities are wonderful ways to help our little furry friends find homes, medical care and love. So if you want to help please purchase a calendar or make a tax-deductible donation. I’m hoping cool changes are also coming your way and we hope to bring Player to a city near you soon!

Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning 2013

Devin's Kickass Cajun Seasoning
Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning

As we kick off a brand new year and almost five years of Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning, I’m happy to know that so many of you love our spice! Most of you know we created the spice because of my love for Cajun cooking and my home state of Louisiana. Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning was created especially to help the city of New Orleans recover from the devastation of hurricane Katrina and we give part of the proceeds directly to help that effort. Last year we gave $14,000 to Brad Pitt’s charity, “Make It Right” who is directly helping New Orleans rebuild ecological housing. This year we hope to top that and with your help I’m sure we can exceed that number as New Orleans continues to rebuild. However, our spice doesn’t just benefit New Orleans, it benefits any other natural disasters that has happened in our country such as, hurricane Sandy in New York recently. We want to be known as the spice that gives back.

Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning and Cajun Cookin

Cookin Cajun
Cookin Cajun

In addition to Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning, I created the cookbook, “Cajun Cookin” with a variety of not only Cajun recipes, but appetizers, soups, salads, stews and meats to use with our spice because it’s simply great on everything. Most of our customers actually use the phrase, “We use it on everything.” That’s no exaggeration because I know we do and have for nearly five years now. Our Cajun spice is lower in sodium than any other Cajun seasoning that I know of and has no MSG. I created that way because I was tired of what was in the supermarkets. Most Cajun spices were way too salty and did contain MSG. So our spice is my original recipe that I perfected for that reason. It’s got alot of flavor and a bit of a kick, but not to spicy, so it really does just make you the cook you didn’t know you could be just by adding it to any dish. My “Cookin Cajuncookbook is now available in an ebook that you can download to your ipad or computer and has lots of wonderful photos to go with nearly every dish.

The Future of Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning

When we created  Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning  we wanted to start small and grow organically with a product we could be proud of. Since Ronn and I are in the entertainment business, we knew nothing about the food industry, which was a bit of an education in the process of creating “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” and took nearly two years to formulate. My goal is to have it one day be in the supermarkets  and available all over at a cheaper price. It’s very hard to compete with brands that are household names and already on the shelves in supermarkets, however I will not give up on this dream because I know we have a “kickass” product pardon the pun. Most of you who have tried it know what I’m talking about and those of you who haven’t, well you are missing out. We use it for BBQs, in the summer and I love to give it to our new friends and have them come back and rave about how much they love it on everything. So we believe the future oDevin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning is very bright and with your continued help will be the a spice that makes a difference!

On August 23, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and devastated that region with 175 mph winds that left over 1836 people dead and cost over $100 billion dollars in damages. Many people lost their homes and relocated. This was one of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters in US history. Since then many people have been able to return to their home town thanks to the efforts of the “Make It Right” foundation and Brad Pitt’s passion for New Orleans. The first star studded fund raiser for “Make It Right” was hosted in New Orleans by Brad Pitt, Randy Jackson and Ellen DeGeneres. They showed us the progress that is being made with Green energy efficient homes that has enabled many native Louisianians to return home. This amazing technology has helped many other displaced people all over the world with these kinds of homes and I’m happy to be a part of this with “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning.” It seems the region is coming back and will be stronger and better as time goes on. We are very proud to have participated in the first gala for “Make It Right.” All the performances by Sheryl Crow, Rhianna, Snoop Dog, Seal and Kanye West were amazing and the show will be broadcast later. The gala was totally first class and one of the most fun charity events we have ever attended. Ronn chatted with Portia DeRossi as I re connected with Sean Penn and Randy Jackson, who is from my home town of Baton Rouge. We had the best Cajun food prepared by Emeril and surprise appearances by Football hero Drew Brees and Dr. Drai. There was an open bar and the party went on all night long, so needless to say we didn’t want to miss any of it. By the end of the evening, Ronn was hanging with Jamie Foxx and Rhianna, while I partied with my home girls. One of my first college roommates came to visit me from Baton Rouge. We had not seen each other in 24 years! But that’s okay, because those are my life long friends that I cherish and we know it doesn’t matter if we don’t see each other, we are always there in each other’s heart. That’s how we are in Louisiana. If you are a friend, you are family and the passage of time just doesn’t matter.  It made me so proud to see how much New Orleans loves Ronn as walked around the French Quarter listening to Jazz, stopping for Beignets and eating lots of gumbo.  The culture is still there and the pride of Louisiana is still there, hell it’s a miracle that the French Quarter is still there! When Katrina hit New Orleans I cried and I wanted to do something to help rebuild it, thus “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” was born. I’m happy to see there are others that feel as passionate about New Orleans as me and it’s amazing to the see the progress when we all do a little bit to help. We now have several people helping us get our spice into restaurants and supermarkets. It made us so happy to be able to  donated 1000 spices to the gala’s gift bags and we helped to raise over $14,000!  That was small compared to other sponsors like Google, but we will most certainly be back next year bigger and better. Thank you to everyone who helped and participated.  We are the spice that’s “Making It Right” in New Orleans so please spread the word and help us to continue.[wpvideo J1rs8eC0]

Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning is now a part of Brad Pitt’s charity A Night To Make It Right that is helping to rebuild homes in New Orleans. On March 10th, Brad is hosting a star studded gala with Ellen Degeneres for the “Night To Make It Right Gala.” Performers include, Rhianna, Sheryl Crow, Randy Jackson and Seal. We are donating 1000 spices and have helped raise $10,000 so far. So we want to kick this awesome event off with a bang and get you guys involved to help us help New Orleans come back stronger than ever! We know this is just the start of something big and we know how much you love Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning, so now you have a chance to win a case of spices or a ticket to the “Night To Make It Right” after party, or a luncheon with Ronn and I!! The contest will end on Ronn’s birthday March 4th and we will announce the winners on our website that week! You must be responsible for your own transportation to the venue. Just donate $50 to enter to win a case of spices, $100 to win a ticket to the after party or $250 to win a luncheon with us! You may paypal your donations to devronnenterprises@yahoo.com. We will notify you by email and post on our website after March 4, 2012.  We are so excited to participate in this awesome event and would love your support.

We hope you all had a wonderful and safe time celebrating the arrival of 2012. We certainly did. It was great to spend it with Peter Beckett and his girlfriend Eden, along with their two sons. I cooked a fabulous dinner of cornish hens, wild rice and veggies. We managed to stay up til midnight for a champagne toast and felt totally blessed to see the dawn of another new year. Ronn and I are feeling very creative now. Ronn wants to do some music and I want to do some writing before heading back home. I have a new look to my personal website and plan to add lots of videos, pics and clothing items there this year. You can now download Ronn’s individual songs for only .99 on his website and we are excited about new things that are coming to Devronn this year. I’m working with my dear friend Kira Reed Lorsch on The Thalians next charitable event. Last year they raised 1 million dollars to benefit the mental illness of our troops and honored Hugh Hefner. So this year we hope to top that with an even bigger and better event. I’m also thrilled to help several of my dearest friends find their dream homes since I now have my real estate license and must say I’m enjoying that process. So I believe 2012 is off to a great start so far. Please note we are down to our last 400 spices of “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” and need to spread the word about this awesome product if you’d like to keep it around, so go to Devronn and support us by buying a spice and giving one to a friend so that we can keep it around. Remember you get a FREE autographed photo when you purchase $15 or more from Devronn. Ronn and I both appreciate your loyalty and loving support of us throughout the years and hope to have more interesting products in the future. We have so many awesome things coming your way, so stay tuned and let us know what you’d like to see more of.

  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup apple jelly

Build a charcoal fire for indirect cooking with Kingsford® charcoal. Add a small aluminum pan to the void side of the grill and fill in halfway with water. Remove the ribs from the grill. Place each slab meat-side down on its own doubled aluminum foil square. Mix the liquid seasoning in a small bowl. Pour 1/2 cup on the liquid over each slab. Then, tightly wrap and seal each slab with aluminum foil. Place the wrapped ribs back in cooker for one hour at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Baked Stuffed Clams

Baked Stuffed Clams Recipe

Although this recipe calls for fresh clams, you can also make this with canned minced clams (use one 6.5 ounce can, drained of all but 1 Tbsp of clam juice). Bake as directed on clam shells, or bake in a casserole dish and use as a dip with crackers.

If you’ve purchasing clams, keep them in the refrigerator covered with a damp, wet towel. If you have dug up your clams, keep them covered with cool sea water in a bucket. Throw away any cracked or broken clams.

Ingredients

  • 10 large chowder or large clams, rinsed, sand and grit removed
  • 3 Tbsp minced onion
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 2 teaspoons dried)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp clam juice (or cooking liquid from steaming the clams)
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning

Method

1 Fill a large pot with 1 1/2 to 2 inches of water. Bring water to a boil. Add the clams to the boiling water. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the clams steam for approximately 6-10 minutes, until the shells open. Remove clams from the pot and let cool enough to handle. Discard any clams that have not opened (if they haven’t opened it means they were dead to begin with and should not be eaten).

2 Remove the clam meat from the clams (not the clam foot which is attached to the shell) and mince finely. Break apart the clam shells from their hinges. Rinse. Pick 10-12 of the cleanest, nicest looking clam shells and set aside.

3 Preheat oven to 350°F. In a sauté pan, melt the butter on medium heat and add the minced onion. Once the onions have softened (2-3 minutes), add the garlic. Cook the garlic for 1 minute, then add the parsley, bread crumbs, minced clams, lemon juice, and clam juice. Stir until the stuffing mixture is completely moistened. (If too dry, add a bit more butter or clam juice; if too wet, add a bit more bread crumbs.)

baked-stuffed-clams-1.jpg baked-stuffed-clams-2.jpg

4 Lay clam shells on a baking dish. Scoop a little stuffing mixture onto each clam shell. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, until Parmesan is lightly browned on top.

Makes 10-12 stuffed clams. Serves 3-6.

Grilled bacon wrapped filet on top of steamed spinach and sliced potatoes with a mushroom and pepper sauce was a favorite dinner we had last week. Ronn even grilled them in the pouring rain, which made it all that more special. With the holidays around the corner, why not try giving a can as a gift and help the city of New Orleans rebuild from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina? I promise you won’t be disappointed with our amazing Cajun spice, so spread the word and the love with “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” today! www.devronn.com

We will also introduce “Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning” to some of the locals and video tape the progress of the reconstruction down there . Ronn will be busy doing an appearance with other soap stars Winsor Harmon and Christian LeBlanc who are also native Cajuns. So I will be in good company. We promise to take lots of pics and video to share on our website Love DevRonn
